Afrikagrupperna, a non-profit organization dedicated to justice, solidarity, and sustainable development in southern Africa, sought assistance in transforming unorganized video footage into professional films. The material had been recorded in collaboration with their partner organization AMODEFA in Mozambique and was intended for the 2022 "Världens Barn" fundraising campaign. Following the success of the first collaboration, Afrikagrupperna once again turned to post-production support for their second partner organization, UNDE, in Mozambique.

Goals

The purpose of the films was to:

  • Spread awareness about Afrikagrupperna’s work and that of their partner organizations
  • Increase engagement among donors and the general public
  • Highlight Afrikagrupperna’s vital efforts in areas such as sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR)
  • Serve as a tool for recruiting new members and donors

Considerations

The collected video material was extensive and unorganized, making it difficult to use effectively.

  • Afrikagrupperna needed assistance in structuring the material and tailoring the messages to fit a compelling video format
  • All work had to adhere to Afrikagrupperna’s graphic profile and tone of voice to ensure a consistent visual and communicative expression
  • Strict deadlines had to be met for campaigns, especially for "Världens Barn"

Strategy

Zero Folks approached the post-production process by:

  1. Organizing and processing the material: We structured raw footage from AMODEFA and UNDE to create a clear narrative for each film.
  2. Adapting the message: In consultation with Afrikagrupperna, we helped transform their core messages into engaging and informative videos.
  3. Ensuring graphic consistency: All films were produced in line with Afrikagrupperna’s graphic profile and included Swedish subtitles, nameplates, and a cohesive visual identity. Accessibility was implemented across all graphic and text elements.
  4. Delivering tangible results: Five films were produced for 2022, with additional films created for 2023. Each was optimized for social media, NGO networks, and television broadcasts.

Delivery

The collaboration with Afrikagrupperna resulted in:

  • Increased reach: The films were not only shared on Afrikagrupperna’s own channels but also reached a broader audience through other NGOs and SVT’s "Världens Barn" gala.
  • Enhanced engagement: The messages in the films increased awareness and created a stronger connection between donors and the organization.
  • New donors and members: Fundraising efforts were strengthened through powerful and inspiring video messages.
  • Long-term impact: The films became a recurring part of Afrikagrupperna’s communication strategy, highlighting their work in southern Africa during the "Världens Barn" campaign in 2024.

Partnering with Zero Folks has been essential for Afrikagrupperna. They transformed unprocessed and disorganized video material into compelling, high-quality films that have not only showcased our work but also enhanced our advocacy for SRHR issues. Thanks to their expertise, the films have extended their reach beyond our platforms, attracting a wider audience ranging from other NGOs to SVT's 'Världens Barn' gala.
